I love SE! A 5 min drive and I'm out of the light pollution of the city and can see stars for miles at night, walk out the back door and I can see an eclipse perfectly! The summers are soooo worth it! The springs and falls are beautiful too... well except for the last gasp snow storms that drop 18" and snow you in so bad that you can't leave the neighborhood to get to work! I love that an acceptable excuse for beign late is there was a moose or bear out by the car! I've been up here for 9 years and just love it... not moving down to the lower 48 any time soon either! Alaska is a beautiful country (ok, state, but as big as a country). I lived in Fairbanks for 3 years and loved everything but the cold and dark, square tires, and plugging the car in at night. Took getting used to, but the view was worth it.
